My First Apartment in Vacaville California

A photo of my first apartment on my own. It was cute wasn’t it? If you’ve never lived on your own, I highly recommend it. Some of the best moments of my life were spent in complete solitude.
October is Vegan Awareness Month

Every once in a while Ray and I like to do these things where we give something up for a certain amount of time. In Hawaii Ray gave up meat for something like 8 months. Sometimes I give up things like chocolate, meat, fast food, etc. Meat has never been hard for me to give up because when I actually think about what I’m eating, a dead, roting, carcass, I lose my appetite. So recently, Ray and I gave up meat again, before we moved to New York but then we decide to start eating meat again because eating is part of the New York experience. After an unimpressive street food experience, and reading the book Skinny Bitch, I just decided that meat just wasn’t my thing so why fight it. I talk to my little sister, Selena, pretty regularly and after speaking to her of my decision she decides to send me this horrific tape of what really goes down inside factory farms. I’m sure everyone has some kind of understanding of the treatment forced upon factory farm animals, but sometimes ignorance is bliss and what we all pretend not to know won’t hurt us, just the poor, helpless animals. I admit I was one of these people. Sure I read books and seen fliers but that only effected me temporarily. After all, they are going to be turned into food which means they all will eventually be killed, so there is irony in fair and humane treatment when it comes to factory farm animals. I’m super sensitive, a common trait among the Chung’s, so I cried and cried after the video. And when I finished watching it I had a sick, empty feeling at the bottom of my gut so I cried some more. How could anyone eat meat after watching that. So I’ve decided this time not only am I going to give up meat, but I’m giving up dairy and seafood as well and I’m giving it up for life. What better time to do it too, because is just so happens that October is Vegetarian Awareness Month.

Factory animal farms are violent and inhumane and I refuse to support them. I feel really empowered by this life changing decision. But please don’t ask me to give up my new boots, I’ll give you anything, just let me keep the boots.

Me and My Ice Cream Truck

I love Ice-cream and I love driving. I think I could make this work.
Tourists in New York

Seriously, my tits aren’t this big in real life; I don’t know, perhaps it’s the angle of the camera or the two layer tank top but I really don’t think I’m this top heavy in real life. Just for the record I really wanted to make that clear. Anyhow, this the amazing view of New York you get when you get off the Light Rail.

And then from there you take the Path subway into the city.

If you go at the right time you’ll miss the crowds.

DKNY ad. New York is filled with ads, everywhere.

Wow, cops really ride on horses here. Words of Wisdom: if your running from the cops head straight into a department store. The horses aren’t allowed in there.

A new sky rise is in the works.

One thing I love about New York is that they have a lot of buildings that look historic.

I don’t know why, but my bladder has been out of control since we left Austin. And one thing I hate about New York is that there isn’t a whole lot of public restrooms. Luckily there’s the big, corporations that allow you to use their facilities free of charge and hassle-free. One of them being Whole Foods. See, big corporations aren’t all bad people. I really liked the design of this one so I had to take a photo to remember. Now if only they had free wifi, Ray and I would be here all the time.

One thing that I really like to do is to take photos of creative design that I randomly see for future inspiration. I think that’s pretty creative using a dry cleaning rack to display clothes.

Ray is so hot when he actually smiles.

We both really dig this building. There’s a cute little patio on the second floor to the left.

Ray likes this one. I think it looks cool but I’m not too crazy about small angles.

Shane-ers this one is for you. While living in Hawaii our friend Shane would make us get on our knees and bow to Mao every morning.

Sunset always gives you the best lighting for photos.

This was a cute little juice shop called Bagua, in Jersey. For some reason I have always been super impressed with small business and the execution of their design. Kudos for Buagua.

For all our help with the move Bea and Guav really wanted to take us out to a nice dinner. It wasn’t necessary, but hey I’m always down for free delicious food. Before dinner we had to make a few stops at a few department stores. Bea and Guav are in search of a new couch so we went to CB2. I think they like this one.

If Obama doesn’t win this election then I have not choice but to believe that the election is rigged and that there’s really no point in voting ever again. Until recently I have not met one single person for McCain and everywhere I go there’s Obama supporters, everywhere. Seriously, I still have yet to see a McCain bumper sticker. Hooray! Go Obama!

Bea wants this ottoman in her closet.

Bea and Guav at Red Bamboo, so far the best vegetarian restaurant I’ve been to.

Ray and I can’t wait to go back. Thanks for the delrishious food guys.

Hello New York!

On September 15th Ray and I packed our bags, loaded up the car and headed straight to New York. It took us a little over one full day to get there from Texas. I swear Ray and I are road trip professionals, we don’t fuck around. Of course we brought Kola with us too. He basically slept the whole way there.

We’re staying with our good friends Bea and Guav and they actually live in New Jersey, one stop away from Manhattan, New York. But they both work in New York and so far I feel as though we’re in New York just as much as we are in New Jersey. Here’s the view from Bea’s work.

Pretty sweet right. If I worked here I just might have to take up smoking just so I have an excuse to see more of this. I feel like Ray and I do a lot of walking here. We’ve been walking everywhere. Which is a good thing, gives us time to soak everything in and if we’re tired we just stop and rest.

Oh, also Ray and I decided to started eating meat again, but only for this trip. Since we both love to eat and eating is part of the whole New York experience we felt it was only right. Ray’s pretty happy about it. I’m not sure if he wants to convert back. I just finished reading the book, Skinny Bitch, and I am so totally over meat. Really over it. As a matter of fact, I’m not really feeling cheese or any thing else that has to do with dairy. Yes that even means ice-cream. We had some soy mint ice-cream at this amazing vegetarian restaurant the other day and I could totally convert to soy ice-cream. No problem what so ever. It was del-rish-ous.

Our commute route pretty much goes like this, we take the Light Rail to Hoboken and from Hoboken we take the Transit to New York and if we want to get around in New York we either take the subway or walk.

At Time Square.

Outside of MTV.

Wall Street.

This was our first street food affair. Street food was the main reason I had agreed on eating meat. We got hot dogs and some kind of kabob. It was not everything I had hoped for and over priced because we were in Time Square.

Another thing I wanted to do was to go to the bridge in Central Park that’s alway in the movies.

Isn’t it pretty?

So far Central Park is definitely my favorite. I love parks that are actually utilized to their full potential.

We had to sit for a few and just enjoy the beautiful day.

Ray likes to take pictures with his iPhone.

We’ve also been dividing our time up in Hoboken too. Hoboken is a lot like Jersey, but cleaner and more expensive.

One things for sure is that there’s definitely not a shortage of pizza parlors in the east coast.

This hardcore granny stood her ground and wouldn’t let anyone take her spot. All I gotta say is I want grandma on my team.

The view back in Jersey.

Oh, what a hard life Ray and I have.

A real hard life.

This is the oldest cemetery in New York. It so old that you can’t even read the tombstones.

Along with all the site seeing we’ve been enduring we’ve also had the pleasure of helping our friends move. Bea and Gauv just bought a place in Jersey Heights. They are officially homeowners, Yay!. It’s real nice and now they get to come home to a sea of boxes, literally, a sea of boxes.

Luckily, our we have our own room upstairs. It’s real nice.

When I get board I like to write in my journal or draw pictures of Ray. He’s not the only artist in this relationship.

The view through a fence from Jersey Heights.

I’ve been eating delicious vegetarian food since I’ve been here.

We took Bea to IKEA in search of a new closet.

She went crazy.

There was just enough room for her little body to fit inside the car with her new orchid.

When we got home we wasted no time and started on her new closet right away.

It got a little dusty and they had to resort to glasses.

Of course Bea did the honors of devirginizing the walls of her closet.

Wow, that’s pink.

Ray is a tired, dirty, Mexican. Yes, honey, this is how real Mexicans feel everyday because real Mexican’s work. Oh, what’s that, your half white, oh, that explains everything.

Ground Zero through a mesh screen.

I love New York!
Hurricane Ike Victim

As most of you know Hurricane Ike, a Category 2 storm, battered Galveston with 110 mph winds and a 12-foot storm surge, flooding homes and destroying businesses, more than a week ago. At least 61 deaths, including 26 in Texas were attributed to Ike. About 45,000 of the city’s 57,000 residents fled Galveston Island, about 50 miles southeast of Houston and many Houston residents were evacuated as well. Our friend Marcos was one of them and we took in this Hurricane Ike victim with open arms. Hum, I wonder if we could potentially use this as a tax write off, surely there must be some loop hole. I mean this poor unfortunate soul would be in shambles if it not had been for us and our rescue.

During his stay he attended the Amazon conference where Ray was invited to give a brief speech. We also went to a new wine bar where we sampled lots of good wines. I cooked a lot because for some asinine reason I’ve turned domesticated. Marcos just recently purchased a new Apple computer and was pretty much finger banging his keyboard during his whole stay. Hey no judgment passed; Apple for life baby. Ray set up a new blog for Marcos, MOJO37.com and basically turned him into a blogging whore of whores. We intended to go see some dinosaur sculptures at Zilker Park, but the place was closed.

We did a lot of walking around to kill time and in the process I found my boots. Exactly as I had envisioned in my head. Aren’t they boot-e-ful? But they were the wrong color, not dark enough. So I’ll wait.

We had to leave for New York soon so we threw him the keys and asked him to take out the trash and locked the door when he leaves. Hope your doing well Marcos and that your stuff wasn’t floating away when you got home.

Roller Derby Games Kick Ass!

I mean literally, kick ass. Are you checking out all the fights you see here. It was awesome! I even thought about trying out. Seriously, could there be a job better suited for me? But then Ray heard the commentator mentioned that they practiced everyday and even had to pay to play. Pay to play? Fuck that.

They were sponsored by Lone Star Beer, the crappiest beer ever made, and we still drank it.

Check out the leopard on this one.

This is their mascot.

He liked to roll around with a chainsaw.

This guy was my favorite. No not the rocker, the ginormous hot dog. I secretly wanted to take him home with us and have him show me his sweet dancing moves while Ray watched.

Honey get a mascot costume and shake that ass for me.

Hey Cupcake!

You know when we saw this we had to make a stop. Actually, we had no cash so we had to make a stop at a near by ATM first. The lady that worked here has to work on her customer service skills. I think anyone that sells cupcakes should be a cupcake. This lady was a cuntcake and the cupcakes were just mediocre. Oh, well, at least we tried.

He Made Me Go Back

Ray made me go back to the Agave Homes. His dick is rock hard for them and I’m starting to get jealous. We actually went into the office and talked to the lady this time. She gave us a list of like 20 homes and let us loose. We spent the next few hours walking in and out of each one; I should of brought a bigger purse so I could fill it up with the towels and various hand soaps they had on display (just kidding, but not really). Of course the ones we liked the most had to be the most expensive ones. Ray and I have a habit of having expensive taste. This one is the only one I took a photo of and it’s the only one that matters because if we do end up buying one of these Agave Homes it will be one that has a set up like the one you see here. I love that the garage is in front of the house and separate. I also love that there’s a studio above the garage. I would totally rent that space out to help with mortgage. We didn’t get a chance to check out the inside but I’m sure it’s nice. If you have $349,000.00 to spear and want to let us borrow it interest free, we’ll be your bestests friends, or you could just buy it yourself and rent us out the studio above the garage.
